Mark Jeffery and Guy West began their first shoe business at age 16, selling shoes they had designed themselves at Markets in Northampton and Kensington.
Right from the start Jeffery-West intended their shoes to embody the craftsmanship and quality associated with Northampton?s shoe making history. On top of this they added cutting edge designs, elegance, flamboyance and innovative shapes.
Most of all they wanted to inject some imagination into the man?s shoe market, particularly into the side of the market using quality manufacturing techniques. This imagination has come from a plethora of influences including pop culture, Regency dandies, hell-raisers, swashbucklers and wits.
All Jeffery-West shoes bear the signature style of a cleft heel- suggestive of the coven hoof marker displayed by those with ?knavish intentions?. So, the wearer treads a line between respectability and rascality. Similarly, the signature red leather lining evokes pomp and circumstance on one hand and revolution and decadence on the other.
